Taiwan Petrochemical Project Installs More Westfall Mixers in High Pressure System
Repeat Orders Attest to Performance
A couple of years ago, Westfall provided four 14″ Model 2800 static mixers to a petrochemical plant in Taiwan. They were so pleased with the performance, they recently ordered another four mixers. These are 10” Model 2800s in Stainless Steel 304 for an ethylene/benzene line. As always, repeat orders attest to the performance of our static mixers.
14″ Westfall 2800 Static Mixer in Stainless Steel 316 : integral injection ports inject benzene, ethylene or alkylate downstream. The simple yet elegant design of the 2800 requires hardly any maintenance over the years.
Meeting Extreme Pressure
Most of our customers operate pipelines at around 150 psi, so we welcomed the challenge of fabricating mixers for the 600 psi pipeline in Taiwan. The higher pressure requires thicker nozzles and flanges. Two of the original four Model 2800 mixers were for injecting benzene solution; the other two for injecting alkylate solution; and all four injecting ethylene gas.
Durability and Longevity
We fabricated the original mixers from Stainless Steel 316 for “set it and forget it” longevity. The newest mixers were fabricated in Stainless Steel 304 for a saving of 10% over Stainless Steel 316 in materials cost.
How the Model 2800 Works
The Westfall 2800 Mixer rapidly mixes fluids through a combination of alternate vortex shedding and intense shear zone turbulence, with mixing achieved within seven diameters. Its compact design, integral injection assemblies and moderate headloss make it popular in many applications. It also requires little or no maintenance.
